Luminosity and durability are two of the great characteristics of Hontoria limestone, a stone with centuries of history that has defied time since the Burgos Cathedral. Its first great boom came with the arrival of the Gothic period. The “Hontoria” limestone is an off-white limestone with the presence of fossils that at first sight looks like a soft stone due to its open porosity, but once it has been cut and dried it shows its great durability in the most demanding climates. This is due to the cementation/hardening of the calcium carbonate.
